After The MH Wilds Debacle, Pragmata’s Demo Was Designed With PC Optimization In Mind

Point being — it’s going to be a big year for Capcom, and the one thing outside of any delays that could ruin things are some poorly optimized PC releases like we saw with Monster Hunter Wilds.

To help mitigate that, Capcom strategically used its recently-released demo for Pragmata as both a means of letting players experience the upcoming title but also to clear a way for better optimization.

In a new piece from Automaton Media, Pragmata’s producer Naoto Oyama and director Cho Yonghee discussed the behind-the-scenes of the demo, including its ultimate intentions.

Because PC builds have tons of variations, making individual adjustments on Steam, per the developers, is not an easy feat. A demo allows the team to garner feedback in order to optimize the game as much as possible before its worldwide release. That optimization has a heavy emphasis on framerate stability.

“Our policy was to put comfort first, even if it meant sacrificing certain graphical aspects,” Oyama said.

Ultimately, whether those efforts pay off won’t be seen until the game’s launch on April 24. That said, it isn’t the first time that Capcom, or any of its developers, have openly discussed the need to avoid another Monster Hunter Wilds situation.

Much Like EA Wanting To Avoid Another Battlefield 2042, Capcom Wants To Avoid Another MH Wilds

Back in November, via a financial Q A, Capcom affirmed that Resident Evil Requiem, which will be the first of its upcoming lineup to release, will not be impacted by the same performance issues that came to define one of its 2025 releases in Monster Hunter Wilds.

When asked whether Requiem would run as poorly as Wilds did, Capcom came out on the defensive to disspell any notion of that being the case.

“Resident Evil Requiem differs from Monster Hunter Wilds in terms of gameplay, system architecture, and network features,” Capcom said. “At present, we do not anticipate similar risks. We are developing the game to provide a smooth gaming experience across a wide range of PC specifications.”

In all, it’s a bold strategy filled with some rather strong points, but it seems Capcom truly took those issues to heart.

An RPG from 2011 shouldn’t run at 30 frames per second on a console from 2025.
