Marvel Rivals Fans Are Getting Sick Of FOMO Thanks To Newly Revealed Lady Loki Skin

Earlier today, the mystery surrounding Marvel Rivals and the potential Lady Loki skin was finally solved. After posting a short teaser to all the Marvel Rivals social media accounts, NetEase finally relented and revealed the genderbent Loki that many were actually hoping for.
Not only does she have a completely new voice actor (Magik voice actor Abby Trott), but she comes complete with new voice lines, interacts with certain characters differently, and is easily one of the best skins that Marvel Rivals has put out in quite some time. Unfortunately, though, you’ll only have a limited time to actually grab her, as the skin is only available between Jan 2 and Jan 30.
Of course, this is nothing new for Marvel Rivals, as there have been skins in the past that have only been available for limited periods, whether released on their own, or as part of a previous battle pass. For some reason, though, a lot of fans of the title aren’t very pleased about Lady Loki being a limited-time skin, as she may have possibly been the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Marvel Rivals Players Are Upset With Lady Loki Skin s Limited Availability
On both Twitter and Reddit, you can find posts from fans upset about Lady Loki’s temporary availability in the game’s store, with Reddit user Gabrielhrd accusing NetEase of “leaning into FOMO” more and more. If you’re unaware, FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is essentially the feeling of pressure that you feel when something you’d like is only available for a limited time, and is often seen as a pretty sleazy tactic of getting someone to buy something that they otherwise may have waited for.
Marvel Rivals’ director is glad that the skins are so popular, and argues that it’s only fitting that so many of them are so revealing.
Other posts in the Reddit thread by Gabrielhrd are calling the move a “scare tactic” to try and coerce more players out of money they may not have spent, while others are getting increasingly annoyed at how many of the game’s more recent skins have only been made available for a limited time.
While it’s true that Marvel Rivals will bring back previous skins later down the line (apart from a couple of select skins from the game’s alpha and beta), many are arguing that NetEase is still manipulating people with FOMO by not really telling them exactly when they’ll be coming back. You could be waiting months, and possibly years, for a cool skin to return to the store, so who knows exactly when Lady Loki will be purchasable again after she leaves the store on January 30.

It’s especially galling when you take into account that Lady Loki isn’t even a holiday skin, meaning there’s no real reason to have it available for a limited time outside FOMO tactics. It’s a sad reality of the free-to-play market at the moment, and while NetEase has mostly been quite good about its monetization tactics and listening to fans, it seems pretty unlikely that fan demand will stop Lady Loki from disappearing for a while at the end of next month.
