Death Stranding 2 Fans Are Peeing In Front Of In-Game Geoff Keighley

Josh has been playing video games for longer than he can remember, kicking things off with a Master System before upgrading to a Mega Drive. Covering the industry since 2018, if a game has a strong story – or even better, the decisions you make determine the course of that story – odds are he’s going to like it. Or, you know, put Sonic or Pikachu on the cover and that’ll get his attention too.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s Game Awards dominance meant big and impressive games that would usually get a lot more attention wound up winning nothing at all. Death Stranding 2 was one of those games, and some of those who believe it deserved more are taking it out on Geoff Keighley by peeing in front of him.
Don’t worry, they’re not tracking down the real Keighley to pee in front of. Instead, they’ve been returning to the original Death Stranding in which Keighley appears as an NPC. They’ve been doing it since December 12, the day after Death Stranding 2’s barren showing at the Game Awards, and more than a week later, it still doesn’t look like they’re done venting their frustration.
Death Stranding Fans Return To The First Game To Pee For Geoff Keighley
Keighley is an NPC referred to as Ludens Fan in the original Death Stranding, for whom you can perform tasks and deliveries, just like other preppers in the game. However, rather than engage in his side quests, loyal Hideo Kojima followers, upset by his lack of awards, are backing up and peeing outside of Keighley’s virtual, post-apocalyptic home.
You chug a lot of Monster energy drinks in Death Stranding, so naturally, there needed to be a player-activated peeing mechanic.
Keighley and Kojima are quite close, hence the latter putting the former in one of his games. Kojima usually makes an on-stage appearance of some description at the Game Awards, whether it be to promote an upcoming project or to speak about a recent release. However, despite Death Stranding 2 launching just six months ago, and the iconic developer having at least two games in development, there was no Kojima section during 2025’s TGAs.
He was there, though, shown in the audience multiple times, but since Death Stranding 2 didn’t win anything, there wasn’t even a need for the former Metal Gear Solid director to take the stage unprompted. No awards, no Kojima cameo, and now ten days, and counting, worth of pee accumulating outside Keighley’s Death Stranding home.
The Pee Will Continue To Flow Until Morale Improves
A Twitter user who goes by naven0m appears to be the one who started the trend, but they’re far from the only person to have shown their displeasure via virtual urine. Others have replied, saying they’ll be doing the same, with some noting that they’re aiming to make it the most peed on spot in the entire game.

Even though it was up against stiff competition, Expedition 33 swept the Game Awards like no game to have come before it. It won more awards in one night than any other game in TGAs history. Since Death Stranding 2 was nominated in a lot of the same categories, it left with nothing, as did Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, even though both were frontrunners alongside Clair Obscur to win 2025’s Game of the Year.
