Heartseeker is a boss that you’ll fight early on in the story of Where Winds Meet. Wielding a massive scythe, Heartseeker will disappear and reappear around the battlefield, attempting to catch you off-guard with a mix of ranged and melee attacks.

You’ll first encounter Heartseeker at the end of the Still Shore dungeon during the main story quest A Horse Neighs in the Forest, but you’ll be able to challenge her again afterwards for more rewards. Below, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about this boss fight.

Heartseeker Boss Fight Walkthrough

Heartseeker uses a variety of close-range scythe attacks, rapidly switching between combos to keep you on your toes. Luckily, these are almost all avoided in the same way, but learning the parry and dodge timing will take a bit of time. Watch out for combo attacks that will make you parry multiple times in a row to avoid the full thing.

Periodically, Heartseeker will summon three red orbs above her head, which will then fly toward you. While you can dodge to avoid these, you can also use Meridian Touch to dispel the projectiles while also putting Heartseeker into a vulnerable state. Use this to get a nice chunk of damage in.

One of Heartseeker’s most dangerous attacks will have her vanish before reappearing directly behind you, then executing a high-damage horizontal slash. When you see the boss disappear, get ready to parry or dodge the slash.

Another potentially dangerous attack involves Heartseeker charging into an uppercut, then swinging her scythe around your neck to pull you in. If you’re hit, you’ll be drawn into an unavoidable attack that deals high damage. Luckily, this attack can be parried with the right timing.

Occasionally, Heartseeker will jump into the air before unleashing a mist around her that deals repeated damage over a few seconds. When she jumps into the air, get ready to move a safe distance away.

Phase 2

Once you deplete Heartseeker’s first health bar, she will move to the center of the arena and begin charging red lightning into her scythe. If you don’t avoid this attack, you’ll instantly die. To avoid it, run behind one of the tombstones around the edge of the arena, and stay there until the attack completes.

Now, Heartseeker’s basic scythe combos will become much fiercer, as she attacks faster and for more damage. Ultimately, the strategy remains the same; use a combination of parries and dodges to avoid her attacks, and get some hits in when possible.
