Where Winds Meet is absolutely packed with side quests, mini-games, boss fights, and methods for making your character stronger. Most things in the game are also well worth doing, as they provide either valuable materials or entirely new skills.
The side quest Echoes of Old Battles rewards you with the Touch of Death Mystic Art, which lets you instantly kill low-level unaware enemies. Below, we’ll take a look at how to solve every puzzle in this quest, including the wall puzzle near the end.
How To Start Echoes Of Old Battles
You can begin Echoes of Old Battles by going to the Northern Vow Ruins in Battlecrest Slope in the Qinghe region. Approach the ruins and speak to the eavesdropper to start the quest.
Echoes Of Old Battles Walkthrough
To start, there are a few enemies in the area that you’ll want to clean up before you begin exploring, including the mini-boss Zhang Bao. Take care of any enemies you see, then defeat Zhang Bao to continue.
Once he’s defeated, open the chest behind him to obtain your first clue: a map of the area marked with four red circles. These circles correspond to braziers around the area. Light the ones indicated by the map, and extinguish the ones not on the map.
Doing this will open a staircase to the area beneath the ruins. Head down to continue to the next part of the quest.
Wall Puzzle
After receiving the Yanyun Oath emote and performing it for the statue, you’ll find yourself in a long room with glowing blocks on either wall. The clue here is to recreate the words of the Yanyun Oath using the Chinese characters on the left and right walls, but a bug in the quest might prevent you from even seeing the characters on the clue in the first place.
Luckily, some helpful Signposts nearby may be able to point you in the right direction. Even if you can’t read Chinese, you can solve this puzzle by pushing in and pulling out the correct blocks. When standing at the entrance to the area, here are the blocks you need to move.
Left Wall: Push in the block furthest from you on the end.
After dropping down into the next area, simply head behind the waterfall and interact with the statue to tighten the chain and unlock the door.
Loot The Treasure
Opening the door will reveal the final chamber. Loot all the chests here, including the big one at the back of the room, which contains the manual for the Touch of Death Mystic Art. Finally, inspect the text on the back wall to complete the quest.
