Corsair Cancels Gaming PC Order To Increase Price By $800 Amid Soaring RAM Prices, Claims Original Listing Was An “Error”

Yesterday, Redditor u/Senior_Ball_9068 claimed that Corsair had cancelled their $3,499 gaming PC order, only to relist the same hardware at $4,299 – a staggering $800 price hike.
Many believed that the markup was because of the soaring price of RAM, a result of manufacturers selling directly to AI data centers instead of consumers. However, a Corsair spokesperson clarified that “The order was flagged by our fraud detection system and was canceled as a result.”
Nvidia and AMD reportedly plan to raise GPU prices “significantly” this year, making new gaming rigs exponentially more expensive.
“On January 1st, our Holiday Deals pomo pricing ended, and the normal pricing was reinstated,” they explained. “But we’ll be getting OP taken care of! We sent a coupon to OP that will allow them to repurchase the PC at the price from their initial order.”
Corsair DRAM Kits Out Of Stock , Listed At The Incorrect Price
u/Senior_Ball_9068 was far from the only one to find themselves in this situation, as several buyers also noted that their orders of DRAM kits were suddenly cancelled.
“Ordered a 64gb RAM kit with them, a few days before RAMageddon,” said one such buyer, u/what_it_dooo. “Called a week later but the order was on hold due to ‘unforseen circumstances’ and that I’d have to wait. They said I could also easily cancel to get my money back so I can buy RAM elsewhere. However, prices were already up at that time, and I didn’t want to spend double on half the amount of RAM.”
The official Corsair socials likewise clarified the situation amid mounting backlash, claiming that the listings were the result of an “internal systems error” and that the kits were actually out of stock. In compensation, it gave coupons to everyone who was affected; as per u/Early_Construction17, these reportedly amount to 15 percent off any future purchase, equivalent to a student discount.
Looking on the Corsair website, it does appear that the kits are out of stock, but u/what_it_dooo alleged that they were able to get their order by calling “them for four days straight”.

As such, most doubt the reasons given in Corsair’s official statement, evident by the onslaught of laugh reacts, with one commenter saying, “Let me rephrase – ‘we’ve made a mistake by not jumping on the scalping RAM bandwagon and canceled all orders so we can relist at a higher price’.
In response, the official Corsair socials said, “We have no stock for this kit and therefore it is currently unvailable for purchasing. It was not meant to be pre-orderable. It simply is not available and was not meant to be.”
We might be waiting a little bit longer for next-gen consoles thanks to how expensive RAM is getting.
