With all the happenings on and around Christmas, including the second-to-last batch of episodes of Stranger Things episodes, plus catching up on all the Game of the Year contenders, it’s easy to forget that Season 2 of Amazon Prime’s live-action adaptation of Fallout is also happening on a weekly basis.
Already one of the highest-rated projects this year, Season 2 of Fallout is shaping up to be another all-timer when it comes to video game adaptation. So much so that fans are once again wondering one simple question: Where the heck is a new Fallout game?
Bethesda once took over Fallout from Interplay, and it’s time for a new developer to do the same.
The Fallout Universe Is Too Rich To Have Everyone Waiting On Bethesda
Taking to Reddit, fans of the series are mystified that, despite its success, the only title still receiving updates is the heavily divisive Fallout 76.
“Literally the easiest bag of money they could ask for,” one person wrote in part. “(I don’t know) why they didn’t plan to exploit it. I know it’s unreasonable to quickly make a game out of thin air, but I feel like this could have been planned out.”
That’s a rather fair assessment, especially when you consider that, on the other end, Sony did manage to pump out a whole Until Dawn remake to coincide with the very poor film. Then again, both Devil May Cry and Splinter Cell received anime adaptations and neither are in line for new entries.
“We have been waiting for 11 years, bud,” another wrote. “Welcome to the club.”
That club is seemingly growing more crowded with each passing week as more and more people realize how incredible the world of Fallout is only to find out just how inaccessible its games are.
That’s because if you’re on either a Switch or PlayStation, then Fallout 3 and New Vegas, both considered the pinnacle of the franchise, are unavailable to you.
“They should be doing mainline games every 5 years even if the technology leaps aren’t as big,” another fan wrote.
As it stands, Todd Howard asserted that Season 3 of the show is in the works, and that Bethesda wants to add elements of the show into its games. It’s unclear when Season 3 will release, and given that Bethesda has yet to drop The Elder Scrolls 6, any shared continuity might be years off from being realized, something that Howard had previously confirmed.
However, there is hope, albeit a glimmer. Earlier this month, Howard did acknowledge the potential remasters for Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but didn’t provide much more than that.
“We get it, right? We see all those comments,” Todd told Dexerto. “We’re working on a whole bunch of stuff. And we look forward to the day that we can reveal them.”

Hopefully that day comes soon and fast because these fans, including myself, are hungry for new content.
It has been 12 months of unexpected hits, leading to a fairly expected conclusion. Roll on 2026!
