The Cold Snap event for Arc Raiders is officially live, which means there are new cosmetics to earn, a snow-themed map condition to survive, and, of course, more materials to loot. This time around, you will be focusing on completing the Flickering Flames project, which is similar to the Expedition Project, where you donate specific materials to complete different steps.
One of these steps will require you to donate three Candle Holders, which is an uncommon tier item. I’m sure we’ve all sold or left behind without a second thought. So, now that we all need them, here is where to find Candle Holders for the Flickering Flames event.
If you need to find Candle Holders, you will want to narrow your search down to any location that is designated as Residential. This is marked with the little icon of a person, and any point of interest boasting this will have a higher chance of spawning a Candle Holder. With that in mind, here are the best places to hunt for Candle Holders:
Village on The Blue Gate
Out of the locations listed, I had the best luck by far at the Village on The Blue Gate. Located on the northwest side of the map, the Village contains a ton of apartment buildings with multiple floors that you can loot. This density of loot makes it ideal for finding any Residential-specific item, such as Candle Holders.
In one session, my teammate found all three he needed for his Flickering Flames project, and I located two of my own in the same run. To nab yourself some, focus on scavenging in any dressers, containers, suitcases, and cabinets as these are typically filled with Residential materials that you’ll need.
If the Village isn’t your speed, Grandioso Apartments is a solid backup. While it’s not nearly as big as the Village, it has quite a few containers and places you can loot for items. Plus, most of the southern side of Buried City is Residential-focused, making it a great place if you’re fine running from house to house.
Now this may be a bit more dangerous due to Buried City’s confined nature, as people seem to be way more PvP focused on this map.
Finally, one of the last spots I really advise looking around is the Ruby Residence and Pale Apartments on Dam Battlegrounds. Located northwest of the Hydroponic Dome Complex, this area is a lot more lowkey, and there’s a much smaller chance you come across another player.

Plus, it’s a collection of apartment buildings, each of which has at least two full apartments you can loot. While it’s not as dense as the other spots noted above, these are good locations for those trying to just get quickly in and out, as you have a chance to spawn right next to them!
Remember, you will need three Candle Holders for the Flickering Flames project. Any additional ones you find can be sold or dismantled, as they aren’t used for anything else in the game currently.
