Reviews for the second season of Fallout are in, and it’s shaping up to be even better than the first season. Opening to 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, critics say that Season 2 is a darker take on the Fallout world that improves upon what was built up in Season 1.
Assuming the score stays this high, it will clear the first season, which sits at 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Judging from this, it sounds like the show has stuck the landing as it adapts the fan-favourite setting of New Vegas, showing us what happened after the game it was introduced in.
Fallout Season 2 Is A Hit With Critics
Scanning through the reviews, we can see that early viewers praise the show for its tone, comedy, and action. However, there are complaints about it hitting a sophomore slump.
On the more positive end of the spectrum, critic Zach Pope gave Fallout Season 2 a perfect score, saying that it’s “Better than Season 1!”
Similarly, Rotem Rusak from Nerdist gives the second season a 4.5/5. “Through incredible performances, well-woven relationships, and the daring to impact canon and move it forward, Fallout season two yet again proves that successful adaptations are possible,” Rotem writes.
Some reviewers found too many issues with the season to go with a higher score, such as Sean Boelman from Fandom Wire, who says that, in delving into the games, Fallout excludes casual fans. “In its more lore-driven approach, season 2 of Fallout is more esoteric and fans-only than the last, but its massive scale ensures that it remains one of the most epic shows on streaming right now.”

We’ll be able to judge Fallout for ourselves later today, as the second season is set to hit Prime Video soon. This is a day earlier than initially advertised, although for those of us in Europe, it will just about fall into Wednesday, as it’s set to be released at 2am GMT.
After the first episode drops, the rest will be released weekly. There will be eight episodes in total, just like the first season. The showrunners have said that they want filming for a third season to kick off next summer, so fingers crossed, the wait won’t be as long next time.
