GTA Online Player Gets $1,000,000 For Wishing Rockstar Happy Holidays

Two GTA Online players in Christmas gear. 4

A lucky GTA Online player claims to have been gifted $1,000,000 in-game just for wishing Rockstar Games’ support team a happy holiday.

Even though we all baulked at how unbelievably expensive GTA Online’s recently added mansions are, the truth of it is that it’s really not that hard to build up some GTA dollars. Whether you’re grinding out heists or just skipping to the bank with Shark Cards, Los Santos gives you more than enough opportunities to raise some dough.

As if all of those options weren’t enough, Rockstar Games tends to be very generous when it comes to giving out money in GTA Online. Players who report bugs and issues are often rewarded with cash, but it turns out that you don’t even need to find a flaw in the game for Rockstar to send you a bit of extra holiday cash.

Rockstar Just Gave A GTA Online Player One Million Dollars For Wishing Them A Merry Christmas
It Literally Pays To Be Nice

Over on the GTA Online subreddit, Redditor Starkinator3000 shared a rather interesting exchange they had with Rockstar’s support team. After being inspired by a similar post on the Steam subreddit, Starkinator3000 sent Rockstar a “support” message that simply wished the team a Merry Christmas.

If Starkinator3000’s post is legitimate, that well-wishing was enough to get sent one million dollars (in GTA Online, of course) as a reward for the kind words. The email from Rockstar says that it “sincerely appreciates” the kind words and holiday greetings, and that the massive lump sum of cash is a “token of appreciation”. It’s also a one-time thing, which Rockstar makes pretty clear in the response.

Of course, now that Starkinator3000 has made a post sharing how Rockstar responds to holiday greetings, the support team is likely going to be flooded with messages from well-wishers who are trying to score some free money. Don’t be surprised if you give this a go and either end up with no response at all or just a simple email instead of one million GTA dollars.

While it might seem a little wild that Rockstar is willing to give out so much free money in GTA Online, the thread points out that bug reports often result in the player getting $1,000,000 for their efforts, so it seems like Rockstar is pretty happy to throw virtual money around. Getting so much for a simple Christmas message is a nice surprise, though, and something I’m sure the community won’t abuse.

No, I’m Not a Human’s ‘Martyr’ Achievement no longer a thorn in the side of Achievement hunters.

I can’t imagine that’s not automated but maybe not. One million is the minimum amount they seem to hand out for bugs as I’d had a few and gotten money that way. Usually I’d be complaining about less than a million but that’s what they’d give me.
