Where Winds Meet has over a dozen World Bosses to tackle, each with its own attack patterns and mechanics to consider. After clearing the toxic fog from the air surrounding the Mistveil Forest, you’ll be able to find and fight a World Boss there.
The Ghost Master is a master of possession, using a crimson umbrella to control the battle from a distance. Below, we’ll show you everything you need to know about this boss fight, including how to avoid all of her attacks.
Ghost Master Boss Location
The Ghost Master is located in the northeast part of the Mistveil Forest in Keifeng. She’s only accessible after you clear the fog from the area during the Encounter quest The Ephemeral Blight, which you can start by trying to venture into the forest.
The Ghost Master will begin the fight by conjuring two umbrellas, then flinging them at you in an arc. Dodging these can be tricky, as they’ll track your movement, so it’s better to parry them.
The Ghost Master has two melee umbrella attacks. The first will have her quickly swipe to the left, then right, giving you little time to parry the first, but ample time for the second. Once you’ve seen this attack enough times, though, parrying both hits should come easily.
The second attack has her quickly spin around, dealing three umbrella strikes. The window between each attack is roughly the same, so you can parry all three hits with the same timing.
A similar attack involves the Ghost Master spinning around, sending her umbrella out, which will then deal damage in three hits while it circles her. While the animation for this attack starts similarly to the melee version, the parry timing is different, so be careful.
The Ghost Master’s red attack looks a lot like her melee umbrella attacks, but she will instead disappear at the end of the combo before reappearing behind you, dashing forward with her umbrella. Parry this final hit to deliver a counterattack.
The Ghost Master’s gold attack has her disappear from view several times in a row, anywhere from one to three, before reappearing and striking forward at you. The only way to tell when she’ll reappear is by the accompanying sound effect, so listen closely to know when to dodge.
During this phase, the Ghost Master’s most exploitable attack will have her drift backwards into the air before summoning several smaller umbrellas. She will then fire these at you at a steady interval, before finishing with a diving attack.
Parrying each umbrella is relatively easy, letting you take out a massive chunk of her Qi gauge. Just be sure to dodge the final dive attack as well, as the timing between the umbrellas and this attack is a bit longer.
Phase 2
In Phase 2, the Ghost Master will exchange her umbrella combo from the previous phase for a slower version, in which she swipes with her closed umbrella. Once you see her start winding up this attack, there’s just enough time to get one attack in before parrying the first hit, then another attack before the second hit.
Shortly after the phase starts, she’ll summon four spirits, which will attack you. When the spirits die, they’ll create a circular area that inflicts Possessed on you, freezing you for a few seconds and opening you up for an undodgeable attack from the Ghost Master.

However, if you don’t kill the spirits fast enough, the Ghost Master will automatically Possess you, so you’ll need to deal with them quickly. AoE weapons are a good choice here.
The Ghost Master will now perform a quick series of two swipes before jumping into the air and slamming her umbrella down, which then deals a second hit of damage a moment later. Get out of the area to avoid this second hit in time.
A bit later into the phase, the Ghost Master will move near the center of the arena, then begin calling down spider lilies that explode when they hit the ground. The best way to deal with this attack is to stay in the same spot and parry the energy waves when they get close to you, only moving if a spider lily is dropping directly on top of you.
If you manage to parry several hits of this attack, you’ll deal a respectable amount of Qi damage to the boss in the process.
Overall, this fight can be pretty difficult, but it’s definitely manageable. If you’re having trouble, try summoning an ally like Yi Dao, since he can draw aggro on the spirits and overall keep you a bit safer.
