Sects are a vital part of Where Winds Meet’s single-player and social components, rewarding you for playing by certain rules and punishing you for breaking others. Luckily, there are dozens of exclusive rewards up for grabs, like Sect outfits.
The Well of Heaven is a righteous group of wanderers who don’t align themselves with any figures of power, instead using their abilities to fight for the weak and helpless. Below, we’ll show you every method for joining the Well of Heaven Sect.
How To Start Initiation: Well Of Heaven
To start this quest, head to Harvestfall Village in the western part of Qinghe, then talk to San Qian in the restaurant. Pay 200 coins for the info he’s offering, then follow the quest marker outside of town.

Speak to the Well of Heaven Elder, then pay him 999 coins to show your gratitude. He’ll then ask you to steal a bag of valuable jewels from his old friend. This Well of Heaven Elder is actually a member of the Nine Mortal Ways in disguise, so we’ll ignore this request.
Instead, go to Zhang Yihao and ask him if you can join the Well of Heaven. To join, you’ll need to obtain three pieces of Ill-Gotten Wealth; essentially, stolen items.
Certain NPCs will carry these items. To get them, you’ll either have to use Celestial Seize to steal the Ill-Gotten Wealth back, or request them through the Gift of Gab mini game.
In Harvestfall Village, you can get two from the Nine Mortal Ways member disguised as a Well of Heaven Elder, and one from San Qian in the restaurant. You can also get two from Fu Lushou in General’s Shrine.
Use Wind Sense to look at people’s inventories while walking around populated areas, and you’re sure to find the three you need.
Alternatively, you can sometimes get Black Market Goods by drinking Wine, which contains a piece of Ill-Gotten Wealth. You can buy wine from Hao Jiu in Harvestfall Village
Once you’ve obtained your three pieces of Ill-Gotten Wealth, return to Zhang Yihao to turn them in and officially become a disciple of the Well of Heaven. You’ll also instantly gain access to the Thundercry Blade Martial Art.
Joining Well Of Heaven After Nine Mortal Ways
If you ended up stealing Zhang Yihao’s jewels, returned them to the fake Elder, and joined the Nine Mortal Ways, you won’t be able to join the Well of Heaven through this quest. Luckily, there’s another method you can use.

First, you’ll need to leave the Nine Mortal Ways if you haven’t done so already. Select Betray Master from the Sect page, then find Ni Laoshan in Harvestfall Village. You’ll need to pay 50,000 coins to complete your severance from the Sect. There’s no way around paying this fee.
With that done, head back to Zhang Yihao, then collect the three pieces of Ill-Gotten Wealth, just like how you would normally undergo this quest.
