PlayStation Fans Have Spotted What Looks Like An AI-Generated Astro Bot Clone

It was bound to happen at some point, but Astro Bot, the 2024 Game of the Year award winner, is being ripped off by another company. Except, instead of iterating on the tight platforming and lovable characters, it’s an AI-generated slop fest.
Fun fact: “Slop” is the Word of the Year, according to Merriam-Webster. It is defined as “digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of artificial intelligence.”
As first spotted by an eagle-eyed PlayStation fan on Reddit, Astrofix Galaxy Quest is coming to a console near you at some point in 2026, provided Sony doesn’t remove its listing from the PlayStation Store first.
The listing, which is still live on the PlayStation Store as of this writing, describes Astrofix as “a fearless little repair-bot with a big heart,” who must “restore balance to the stars” via scattered fragments.
“The Cosmic Core has shattered, and the galaxy is falling into chaos,” its description reads. “Only Astrofix, a fearless little repair bot with a big heart, can restore balance to the stars. Leap across handcrafted diorama planets, uncover mysteries, and repair broken worlds filled with secrets and puzzles. Gather the scattered fragments, reignite the Cosmic Core, and prove that even the smallest hero can save an entire galaxy.”
Somehow, it isn’t the only rip-off game that Witenova Studio, a company that states it’s based in Estonia and is dedicated to “making games that are immersive, fashionable, and soulful.”
There’s also Wednesday the 13th, a horror game that stars a near carbon copy of the modern Wednesday Addams played by actress Jenna Ortega. We’d be remiss not to mention SyndiCAT: Stray Mafia, another slop title that looks equal parts Stray, Cyberpunk, Mafia and Sleeping Dogs.
Digital Storefronts Have A Massive Slop Problem On Their Hands
Had Astrofix not been an Astro Bot ripoff, then it’s likely that the Redditor would’ve kept browsing, because if you’re on the PlayStation Store or Nintendo eShop, odds are, this isn’t the first time you’ve come across a low-budget, low-effort, AI-filled game.
“It’s rather irritating having to sift through the AI (BS) to get to actual games,” one person wrote. “If they’re not gonna take them off the store, at least let us filter to hide any and all AI creations.”
At one point, Sony was removing publishers of these low-effort titles, as TheGamer noted back in February. However, it’s almost certainly a case of whack-a-mole, where simply striking one isn’t enough when there are dozens more.

Maybe seeing Astro Bot get ripped off like that will force action. Then again, if none of the other endless examples of AI slop have been enough to cause action, then will anything ever?
Developers are reportedly crunching on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet at Naughty Dog.
