The Game Awards Statue Mystery May Have Been Solved, As A Trademark Hints It’s Larian’s Next Game

A dusty statue in the middle of the desert. 4

Joshua Robertson is a News Editor for TheGamer. When not writing about breaking news, community stories, or covering industry events, you can find him begging FromSoftware for a Bloodborne remaster.

Update: 20:35 GMT 09/12/2025 – Larian publishing director Michael Douse has claimed that the studio is currently not working on a Divinity: Original Sin 3, though hasn’t ruled out a new Divinity game being in the works. Original story follows.

Over the past week, gamers across the globe have been wracking their brains trying to figure out exactly what The Game Awards is trying to tease with its mysterious desert statue. Guesses have been wild and varied, as you might expect, ranging from the likes of God of War, to The Elder Scrolls 6, Half-Life 3, Star Wars, and many more. It’s all been quiet on the official side of things though, with our biggest hints coming from insiders ruling things out.

However, just a couple of days away from The Game Awards, a newly uncovered trademark may have given the game away. This trademark was first spotted by MP1st, and it seems to be suggesting that The Game Awards statue is teasing a new game from Larian Studios, the makers of Baldur’s Gate 3.

In fact, there are three trademarks in question, all of which were recently registered in Europe and seem to indicate that this mysterious statue has been teasing a new Divinity game this entire time. You can see from the trademarked logo that the central eye of the statue has been refashioned into the title of the game, which seems to be just “Divinity” for now.

You can also see that one of the trademarks is for a design which is almost identical to the top portion of The Game Awards’ statue. All of these trademarks have the same representative ID, meaning they’re all related, so it seems like a surefire thing that something Divinity-related is going to be announced at The Game Awards this week. Trouble is, we still don’t know what.

The small roles Newbon got early in his career soon might not be open to humans.

If you’re a relatively new Larian fan, you may not be that familiar with Divinity: Original Sin and its sequel, both of which are Baldur’s Gate-esque CRPGs of Larian’s own making. Judging from the way that this logo is presented, and that the Original Sin subtitle is nowhere to be seen, it’s possible that this could be a reboot of Larian’s own CRPG franchise to bring all the new Baldur’s Gate fans into its own IP.

That would make the most sense, in my opinion, though it is still just a guess. It could very well be a remake of the first game, or something entirely different. Either way, it seems pretty certain now that this statue is a teaser for a new Divinity game, but we’ll have to wait for the big show itself to get all the juicy details.
