Rumours about Leon Kennedy appearing in Resident Evil Requiem have been doing the rounds for a while now. However, we finally have definitive proof that he’s in the game thanks to the cover art on the PlayStation pre-load symbol. As shared by Dusk Golem on Twitter, Leon can clearly be seen above a picture of Grace Ashcroft, although he does look a little disheveled.
This time it wasn’t GameStop, but PlayStation itself that managed to leak the series’ most iconic character. We haven’t seen him in any promotional material or gameplay, so it’s unclear what his role in Requiem will be. Dusk Golem previously said that he would be in the game, and finally got vindication.
Leon s Back Baby!
While it’s now pretty much confirmed that Leon will be in the game, the artwork shows a few too many wrinkles on his face. It seems he’s either not aged well or is really going through something. That’s saying a lot, considering all the things he’s been through in the Resident Evil series. Aside from the remasters, we haven’t seen our boy in a while.
Dusk Golem previously revealed that Leon will be playable and will feature a first-person perspective for his section of the game. However, we’ll have to wait and see how he finally ties into the game.
Besides Leon, GameStop recently leaked another character that will be appearing in the game. Rosemary Winters will apparently be a playable character in Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC. While that totally messes up the timeline, it’s great to see some of the old characters returning to the series.
Capcom really went out of its way to hide the fact that Leon will be in the game. In fact, producer Masato Kumazawa even came out and said that all of the previous leaks were “fake news”. He even blamed AI for some of the mock ups. Unfortunately, PlayStation’s slip up is pretty hard to refute, but I’d like to see Capcom try to spin this one.
