Sure, there’s quite a bit of fighting and exploring in Baldur’s Gate 3, but more than anything else, there’s a whole lot of talking. No matter who or what you come across, there’s always a bit of dialogue to get through before carrying on with the fight or interaction. In fact, the writing and acting are really the best parts of the game. But have you ever wondered who has the most voice lines in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Most of you will guess correctly that it’s the narrator, played by Amelia Tyler, However, one fan wasn’t content with merely knowing this. In fact, they deep dived into the game’s files to find out how many hours of voice lines each and every character in the games have; not just the main cast, but the NPCs and animals too.
Astarion Is The Most Talkative Companion In Baldur s Gate 3
According to some impressive research by Redditor Everwhite-moonlight (thanks, PC Gamer), the narrator has a cumulative 14 hours, 43 minutes, and 55 seconds of dialogue. In second place, to no one’s surprise, is Astarion with 13 hours, 6 minutes, and 23 seconds. The vampire is followed by Shadowheart and Gale, with Wyll having the least voice lines of any of the origin characters.
Tav has fewer voice lines than any of the companions, but what’s interesting is that each of the eight variants have a different amount. Tav 8 (female) has the most, with 3 hours, 35 minutes, and 45 seconds of dialogue, while Tav 6 (female) has 3 hours, 11 minutes, and 39 seconds. I didn’t know that certain Tavs had more voice lines than others.
We go behind the voice of the Baldur’s Gate 3 narrator and what helped bring it to life.
For someone who talks a bit too much, Volo barely has an hour’s worth of dialogue, while Wulbren manages to get everyone to hate him with just 39 minutes of dialogue. Aylin and Isobel’s relationship may be one-sided as the former talks a lot more than her partner. On the other end, there are 12 characters with just one second of dialogue, which are most probably just single words or grunts and groans.
