Rainbow Six Siege Is Being Hacked, As Players Are Gifted 2 Billion Credits While Ban Logs Are Spammed With Digs At Ubisoft

James Lucas is an Executive Editor from Newcastle, England. They have written for sites like IGN, NME, GaymingMag, and VG247, with a special focus on FPS games, Soulslikes, and survival horror.

Rainbow Six Siege is facing a major breach, as hackers have wormed their way into the game’s systems and rewarded everyone with two billion credits, while also hijacking the log to throw digs at Ubisoft, jokingly ‘banning’ all employees for “toxic behavior” and even musing that Yves Guillemot was on Epstein’s island.

In the hours since the hack started, thousands of players have been sporadically banned and unbanned without warning, while the unknown party behind the breach has been handing out incredibly rare skins, including dev skins. You might want to steer away from the freebies, though.

Ubisoft Urges Players To Avoid Spending Credits, Shuts Down Marketplace

Initially, many bought dozens of packs and emptied out the store with their billions in celebration of the hack, but Ubisoft has now shut down the servers and marketplace to prevent players from potentially being banned for using illegal currency. It’s the first step in putting out the wildfire spreading through the game right now, but popular content creators urge players to stay completely offline until the problem has been resolved.

Rainbow Six Siege X’s official Discord has likewise been closed for the time being.

“Do not log into your game, do not spend Renown, do not spend Rainbow Credits – that is my early warning to you,” Twitch streamer and former pro player KingGeorge said in a new video. “They have banned people in the past for their own screw ups. So, I would definitely recommend just not even logging into the game.” Likewise, official Discord moderators suggest that you “DO NOT spend” any credits, as this could “be interpreted as a breach of Terms of Service”.

While the specifics on the hack are hazy, Ubisoft also issued an official statement earlier today, explaining that “Our teams are working on a resolution” and that it “will share further updates once available”, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the Rainbow Six Siege socials to stay in the loop.

It’s unclear how much the hackers have access to, so it would be prudent to update passwords and remove any payment details affiliated with your Ubisoft account. At the very least, you should avoid the game until the problem has been resolved.
