Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora Has Quadrupled Its Peak Player Count Two Years After Its Release

Josh has been playing video games for longer than he can remember, kicking things off with a Master System before upgrading to a Mega Drive. Covering the industry since 2018, if a game has a strong story – or even better, the decisions you make determine the course of that story – odds are he’s going to like it. Or, you know, put Sonic or Pikachu on the cover and that’ll get his attention too.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora kind of came and went without leaving much of an impact due to its awkward release window. Two years later, the one-two punch of new DLC, coupled with Fire and Ash hitting theaters, has breathed so much new life into the game that it just smashed its record player count on Steam.

Before this month, Frontiers of Pandora’s highest concurrent player count on Steam was 2,614 players, a record set near the beginning of 2025. Not only has the Avatar game been consistently beating that number and setting new records for the last ten days, but on Saturday, it quadrupled that previous record and broke 10,000 concurrent players for the first time since its release.

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora Hits 10,000 Players For The First Time

The new record, which now stands at 10,634, was set on Saturday afternoon, according to SteamDB, as more people are flocking to the game. Presumably, after going to the cinema and discovering that, not only is there an Avatar game, but it just got content that pulls directly from the third movie.

That record will almost certainly be broken again, too. The 10,634 record set on Saturday was the fifth time since the From the Ashes DLC was released that the record has been broken. It tracks that the biggest number would happen at the weekend, as is typically the case on Steam, which might mean the record is broken again later today.

Frontiers of Pandora isn’t a live service game, so this bubble will pop eventually. Its numbers also won’t get much higher since it’s a single-player game. That’s not to take anything away from what it’s doing right now, though. Even now, at this early hour on a Sunday morning, almost 5,000 people are playing, close to double its record player count before ten days ago.

Ubisoft Games Don t Typically Do Numbers On Steam

Ubisoft could do with a win right about now, too, and this just might fit the bill. Although Assassin’s Creed Shadows appears to have hit the mark regardless of which metric you use, Star Wars Outlaws did not. Ubisoft’s Star Wars game never made it past 3,400 concurrent players on Steam. For an Avatar game to have tripled that number is pretty staggering.

The two Ubisoft games that launched shortly after Frontiers of Pandora also failed to leave a mark on Steam. The much-maligned Skull and Bones peaked at 2,615 players, while there has never been more than 1,446 people playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on Steam at one time. That last one is a crying shame, as that game is fantastic.
