A Clair Obscur Streamer Has Already Pieced Together A Maelle Build That Can One-Shot Its Brutal New Boss Fight

Covering the industry since 2018, if a game has a strong story – or even better, the decisions you make determine the course of that story – odds are he’s going to like it. Or, you know, put Sonic or Pikachu on the cover and that’ll get his attention too.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s Game of the Year update brought with it an even tougher version of the game’s hardest boss, Simon The Divergent Star. However, the additional pictos and weapons that come along with the update mean one talented streamer has already figured out how to defeat the new and improved Simon with a single strike.
BltzZ got right to work once the update went live, combining pictos and creating builds that would be the most effective against Expedition 33’s upgraded Simon. With no weaknesses and the ability to wipe your party with a single blow, even before the update, Simon was about as powerful a foe as there is to be found on The Continent.
How To Hit Clair s Upgraded Simon With 1.1 Billion Damage In One Hit
The idea that Simon has somehow become even more formidable is more than someone like me, whose builds rarely muster up moves that go beyond the uncapped 9,999 damage you can deal throughout the first two acts of the game, is pretty terrifying. Not to BltzZ, though, who already has a Maelle capable of emptying Simon’s health bar with a single move.
Using a gradient charge and with Fortune’s Fury applied so that she doles out double damage, Maelle hits Simon with Burning Canvas while in her Virtuose Stance, which increases the damage dealt by a further 200 percent. Burn has already been stacked to 116 on Simon, which means after dealing just one damage to Simon for the first four Burning Canvas hits – all of which mark the target – when Maelle hits the enemy a fifth time, she really brings the hammer down.
So much so that the fifth and final hit inflicts more than 1.1 billion damage on poor Simon. 1,105,130,342, to be exact, which, despite Simon’s big old health bar, is enough to wipe out all of his HP using a single move. Impressive, but BlttzZ notes that with practice, that number can almost certainly be even higher.
Maelle s New And Improved Move Could Inflict As Much As Three Billion Damage
They note that when used against other formidable enemies, the damage dealt with a single hit using this Maelle build could top three billion. Maelle’s shields can help boost that 1.1 billion to almost three times that number, but since you can’t use shields against Simon, that’s not possible. When you’re hitting The Divergent Star with more than 1.1 billion without them, though, that doesn’t really matter, and anything beyond that would just be showboating.
Expedition 33’s “Thank You” update has more than just a formidable Simon boss fight solely aimed at the Clair Obscur sickos. Verso’s Drafts takes place in an entirely new, unexplored area. There’s more story to uncover, secrets to be unearthed, and boss fights that don’t require builds that will inflict damage in the billions. There’s also a new easter egg waiting to be discovered in the Gestral Village, but I won’t spoil what that is for those who want to go find it themselves.
