The Boys Fans Think They’ve Figured Out Who Homelander Is Beating In Season 5’s Teaser, And It’s Going To Be Brutal

The first trailer for The Boys season 5 shows Homelander brutally beating someone into the ground, and fans think that it’s very likely his son, Ryan.

After more than six years, The Boys is finally coming to an end with its fifth season, which is dropping on April 8. Earlier today, Amazon shared a first trailer for the show’s finale, which gives us our best idea yet of what to expect from the final showdown between The Boys and Homelander.

As you’d expect, the trailer shows just enough to whet our appetites without spoiling anything, although it does have one scene in particular that’s supposed to get us all speculating (it’s even the trailer’s thumbnail), where Homelander is shown mercilessly beating an unknown person. Well, after just a few hours, it seems like fans have already figured it out, and it’s going to be a tough scene to watch.

Don t Get Too Attached To Ryan In The Boys Season 5
That s If Fan Theories Are To Be Believed, Anyway

The scene in question is peppered throughout the trailer, and shows Homelander laying a bloody smackdown on someone who he’s holding to the ground. Knowing Homelander’s strength, that person is about as good as dead, and fans already think there’s a good chance that it’s Ryan, the illegitimate son of Homelander.

As pointed out by Twitter user FnafRfan, there are a few decent clues to this being the case. For starters, Homelander is clearly not thrilled about who he’s fighting, and there are very few characters who he’d look hesistant to kill. Ryan is perhaps the only person left on the show that he’d have this reaction to, unless it turns out that he’s grown attached to his rivalry with Butcher.

The other big clue is that Homelander has a clear laser mark on his chest, which is a power that we know Ryan has. While it’s possible that someone else has lasered him (or perhaps even Ryan in an earlier scene), those two clues combined do make it seem as if Homelander is sadly having to fight and finish off his son.

Butcher has previously been shown with laser powers, but after everything that happened in season 4, I can’t imagine he’s going to be able to use them again. Soldier Boy also has his energy beams, but I can’t imagine Homelander would care about killing him.

Of course, that doesn’t outright confirm Ryan’s death even if that is the case, since he’s also got superhuman durability like his dad. It’s hard to imagine him walking away from the fight. It would make an interesting end to Ryan’s character arc over the past few seasons, though, so here’s hoping that if he is the one that Homelander is fighting, he manages to get away.
