It’s 2017 all over again, as Stranger Things fans who are massively dissatisfied with how Season Five, specifically the recently-released Vol. 2, has turned out, are now convinced that an alternate, “Snyder Cut” edition of the final season exists, and they’ve launched a Change.org petition to try and get it released.
The petition, which recently took off in popularity, has now crossed 300,000 verified signatures. Titled “The unseen footage. Stranger Things S5 Vol. 2,” the online petition calls on Netflix Canada, Netflix and the Duffer brothers to release an uncut version of the show that they believe was decided against late.
Our editors put forward their favorite movies before the official top ten drops
“This has been a long 10 years process and this is what we get,” the petition starter wrote. “They must have cut out a lot of scenes from volume 2 and from our loved characters. I believe we as fans should stand up and take the initiative to get the footage and make the decision. We should sign this petition, trend hashtag, and make videos together to get Netflix and the duffer brothers to notice us.”
That said, unlike the infamous “Snyder Cut,” which did exist, as Zack Snyder’s original vision for the Justice League was cut down during a highly-publicized post-production period, it doesn’t sound like one for Stranger Things does exist.
The alleged “Snyder Cut” of Stranger Things Season Five isn’t the only reason why Zack Snyder is making headlines. The filmmaker also doubled down on his love for Fortnite on social media, sharing that the Kim Kardashian skin is his favorite at the moment.
That’s because Randy Havens, who plays Mr. Clarke in the show, took to social media to shoot down any notion that a hidden cut is out there, writing definitively, “There is no Snyder Cut of the show.”
In other words, what you’re seeing is what Netflix and the Duffer brothers truly and wholeheartedly believe is the best route.
Season Five Has Fans Extremely Upset
Long before this recent batch of episodes was released, Season Five was already shaping up to be one of the most divisive entries in the franchise. Of the franchise’s five seasons, the final one is the lowest-rated by critics and by far the worst reviewed by fans, sitting at a 56 percent user score.
The negativity doesn’t end there, either, as things came to a head with “Chapter Seven: The Bridge,” the penultimate episode of the franchise.
It is the lowest-rated episode of the series as a whole, and certainly up there with some of the lowest-rated episodes of any show ever. It currently has a 5.4/10 on IMdB on roughly 104,000 ratings. Of those 104K ratings, 40,000 people gave the episode a 1.0.

“It’s heartbreaking to see how far this once-brilliant show has fallen,” part of a one-star review read.
Fortunately or unfortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see how things end, as the finale is set for a Dec. 31 release in North and South America, Jan. 1 for those in Europe. Perhaps most notable, it’ll play in theaters, which surely means we’ll have some extreme reactions, for better or worse.
