What’s The Worst PS5 Game In Existence? Ask These Gamers Who Regret Their Purchases

Johnny Flores Jr. is a News Editor at TheGamer. He joined the team in 2024, and is focused on bringing the latest news to readers in a fun and easily digestible format. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Johnny owns a B.A. in Journalism and minor in Sports Media Studies. California born and raised, you can often find Johnny enjoying the sunshine and In-N-Out. When not gaming or writing news, Johnny can be found playing with his two male chihuahuas, Akira and August, whom he affectionately calls his sons.

Like life itself, gaming is chock-full of regrets, including from the developers and creators themselves. For example, the devs behind Dispatch have some regrets about making it so easy to choose Invisigal.

That’s well and good, but what about gamers themselves? Taking to Reddit, over 1,300 PlayStation gamers shared the titles they most regret purchasing, and given some of the reviews attached to these titles, we feel just as bad that some hard-earned cash was spent and subsequently lost.

The breakout star of Resident Evil Village deserves to make a thirsty comeback.

Right off the rip, one person said that purchasing Biomutant at full price remains their biggest regret. “Played it for less than an hour,” they wrote. The THQ-produced Action RPG maintains a mediocre 66 on Metacritic, with many hating the narration and gameplay.

The regrets don’t stop there, either, as the next highest upvoted comment has the Saints Row reboot as a deep regret. Even someone who bought the game at $5 thinks they paid $5 too much.

“Somehow it was even more bland and boring than I imagined,” they wrote.

For reference, the majority of the thread features a lot of the usual suspects, like Saints Row, South Park: Snow Day! and Gotham Knights, but in a rather fascinating example, one gamer said they regretted Black Myth: Wukong.

“Beautiful game, but too hard,” the gamer wrote. “I’m too old for this s***.”

While not exactly a Souls game, Wukong can be punishing, and judging by the vast majority of the comments, it appears that some players just don’t have the time nor interest in learning complex enemy movements.

“This. I can only game a couple of hours a week,” a reply read in part. “I’m not spending them p****** off.”

The interesting replies don’t stop there either, as someone listed Silksong as their most regretful purchase.

“I played about 3/4 hours and gave up because it’s too hard,” the person wrote. “I’m really not a very good gamer, so the endless grind and constant dying was just not fun. Which is a shame because I love the art and story, but I don’t like being punished that much.”

The entire thread is worth a read through, even if some of these titles are known. Because just when you thought you bought something that ended up being bad, there’s someone that did that and then some by going all-in with the Deluxe or Collector’s Edition.

“Dragons Dogma 2 Deluxe Edition,” one person explained in part. “Never played the first one and the sequel was getting great reviews ahead of release, so I pre-ordered it. I played a few hours. (The) game just isn’t for me.”

Personally, I’m a pretty patient gamer, so even if something is awful, I likely would have gotten it on a deep enough discount to not feel too bad. However, every now and again I will buy something full price, and even rarer, I will go all-in. Such was the case with Mighty No. 9 when I also got the Signature Edition.

Let’s just say, I wish I didn’t.

Trying to convince Santa to help me catch ’em all for Christmas has me feeling nostalgic.
