Arc Raiders Players Reckon The Game Would “Suck” Without All Those Rats And Griefers You Hate

Arc Raiders is an extraction shooter, we should all know this by now. That means there are elements of both PvE and PvP, and unfortunately, there will be a lot of disagreements over how exactly the game should be played. Some people reckon that playing as a “good guy” is the optimum strategy, while there are the evil ones out there that will wait until you’ve spent half a day grinding for an acoustic guitar, and then shoot you to pick it off your dead body.
That’s pretty much just human nature though, and while there are some that would prefer Arc Raiders had absolutely no PvP whatsoever, you can’t help but admit that the chances of running into one of the worst people you’ve ever encountered is enough to keep things tense and exciting. At least, that’s what Arc Raiders players themselves seem to think.
Arc Raiders Fans Reckon It Would Be Worse Without PvP
In a “hot take” posted to the Arc Raiders subreddit by a user called TheKeasbyKnight (which progressively got colder and colder as time went on), they claim that the game would “suck” without the rats and griefers that the community detest so much, and that the game would be “insanely boring to play” without the threat of an absolute stranger gunning you down or a potential teammate stabbing you in the back.
Plenty of other fellow Arc Raiders players then dived into the thread to give their opinions, most of them aligned with the original poster. A user called Asog88bolo commented that they “agree 100%”, but remarked that they’d rather not have cheaters running around using glitches to kill people. Cheating has become a bit of an issue in Arc Raiders as of late, with streamers like Shroud running into the problem rather regularly, so it can be a little irritating to be killed by someone not playing fairly.
Another user called NotSoSubtle1247 says that they have experience in completely friendly lobbies and shoot on-sight lobbies, and that they both “make the game terrible.” Instead, they prefer matches that usually have mostly good players with “a few madmen sprinkled in”, and that Arc Raiders “needs a few villains” to shine brightly.
Another called SagerToof admits that “a lot of the tension inherent in going topside would disappear” without the odd griefer or rat in every lobby, and that “the game would be worse off for it” if they were to disappear.

It’s a pretty popular sentiment, and while there are obviously a lot of players out there that would enjoy the game just as much if they were allowed to roam around without the danger of being stabbed in the back by a fellow human, it seems a lot more like the tension that human beings bring when they’re naturally allowed to shoot each other to survive. Maybe it’s a sad reflection of the society we live in, but it does make for a pretty compelling video game.

Very few think the game is better with rats and extraction campers. Mostly the Kos people hate to be separated from their victims, so they complain about separate lobbies. There are many, many, players who would be perfectly happy with a PvE server so they could co-op together without giving up precious resources to griefers.
