Arc Raiders’ Flickering Flames event is officially live, and it’s bringing some bone-chilling weather to topside. Introducing a new map condition, cosmetics, and lootable items, there’s a decent amount to dig into here, even for seasoned Raiders.
Of course, the big focus is completing the Flickering Flames project, which requires you to complete six individual steps, each of which requires a lot of materials to be donated. One of these is the Film Reel, which you’ll need to finish step three of this project. Here’s everything you need to know about them, along with where to focus your search.
Where To Find Film Reels
Film Reels are a trinket item that is designated with the Residential item typing, meaning you can typically find them in any point of interest marked with the icon of a person. Narrowing your search further, here are the locations I recommend visiting first if you’re specifically looking for Film Reels:
Village in The Blue Gate
Of these options, the Village is far and away the best option as it is exclusively Residential-focused materials and has a great density of lootable spots. There are a lot of apartments you can scavenge in, each with multiple floors that can be explored. Because of this, it makes finding valuables such as the Film Reel much easier, since you’ll have a lot of places to look in a confined space.
Specifically, you will want to look in any locker, dresser, cabinet, or suitcase, as these have the best chance of actually producing valuables.
I also recommend sticking to the northern side of the Village first, as this is mostly residential buildings, while the southern portion has a lot more businesses. Also, make sure to check the roofs and attics; there are a few you can only reach by going through a skylight!
If you want to hunt on a different map, Buried City is another great choice since essentially the entire southern portion of the map is filled with Residential locations to loot. Both Grandioso Apartments and Saint Maria Houses are superb options, with the former having a lot of individual apartments you can scavenge through, while the latter is made up of a bunch of small buildings filled with lootable containers.
Finally, if you want something more lowkey, the Pale Apartments and Ruby Residence on Dam Battlegrounds are ideal for people who prefer not to get involved in fighting others. This is due to it not being a main point of interest and usually an afterthought location that people loot on their way to the main areas around the map.

That being said, it’s still a surprisingly solid place to find valuables since it’s broken up across several buildings, each with a couple of apartments inside. This makes it a nice place if you want to try and look for Film Reels without worrying that either someone has looted it already or that you’ll run into other Raiders.
Unfortunately, Film Reels cannot be bought, and nothing is recycled into them. Meaning, you will need to find the two Film Reels you need the honest way, and loot them in a run or someone’s corpse.
Here is where you can find Candle Holders in Arc Raiders for the new Flickering Flames project.
