They studied Games Development at University and decided to put that knowledge to use writing about them instead of making them. They are also a digital photographer aficionado and waste most of their time taking silly in-game images.

With the amount of content that Where Winds Meet offers to you for free, it can be hard to see how such a game can be profitable.Unless you’re spending tens of thousands on boats, that is. Typically, free-to-play games gate the content you can perform behind a stamina system, enticing you to spend money to restore that energy quickly.

Well, Where Winds Meet does have that, but to such a small degree that you might not have even known it existed. In fact, the vast majority of the content in the game doesn’t even use it, so it’s very possible you’d never see it at all if you’re only playing through content once and not on that loot grind.

What would typically be called Stamina in many other games, the meter used for sprinting, dodging, and so on, is called Endurance here. Just so you don’t get the phrases confused.

There are two stamina systems in Where Winds Meet, only one of which is actually called Stamina. They both are used for two entirely different aspects of the gameplay, making it even less likely for you to ever run low. These are called Challenge Energy and Crafting Stamina.

Here’s a bit more info on each system.

Challenge Energy

Challenge Energy is the Stamina system you’ll see most often, up in the top-right corner every time you open up the map. This is used exclusively used for replaying open-world content, like Campaigns and Outposts, and the multiplayer Sword Trials.

The goal of Challenge Energy is to let you grind out high-level gear. Every time you beat an Outpost or Campaign, a chest appears. You use the Challenge Energy to claim the rewards from this, and can claim double or even triple the rewards in exchange for extra Challenge Energy.

The ability to claim double and triple rewards from a single instance is also gated by your Solo Mode level, so bear that in mind before you take on an Outpost or Campaign.

Sword Trials are multiplayer activities where you and at least one other player take on a series of bosses, gaining rewards at the end. Like the Outposts and Campaigns, you will gain rewards at the end for your Challenge Energy.

Crafting Stamina

Crafting Stamina is exactly what it sounds like. It is the Stamina used for crafting anything and everything. This applies not just to food you can cook, but ammo you craft, weapons you forge, and construction items you create. It’s everything.

Most items you craft take a rather small amount, only about ten Stamina. Many construction items will cost even less. And with a pool of 2,500 Stamina points, you’re not likely to run out very quickly.

In order to unlock the Drunken Poet Mystic Skill in Where Winds Meet, here is the exact map location showing who you need to talk to & what to do.

Recovering Stamina works differently for both types of Stamina, though both recover naturally, and cannot be made to recover through real money. Here’s how they both recover:

Challenge Energy – Recovers a single point every eight minutes until it hits the maximum. You can also instantly regain 60 points with the use of a Pillow Powder item.

Crafting Stamina – Recovers 450 points once a day, every day. This happens automatically at the daily reset, and there is no other way to make it restore faster.

For the Pillow Powder, it is gained as you perform Breakthroughs in Solo Mode, which increases your Solo Mode level. Some can also be gained from the Battle Pass. This does make it a limited item, however.

How To Increase Stamina

When it comes to increasing Stamina, only Challenge Energy can be increased. Crafting Stamina comes with a max of 2,500, and that does not change.

Challenge Energy is increased in one way, and one way only. That is by performing Breakthroughs in Solo Mode. Breakthroughs are when you successfully advance to the next level of Solo Mode after passing the conditions for it.

At present, that means you can hit a maximum limit of 600 Challenge Energy, coinciding with Solo Mode Level seven. More are likely to be added in future updates, letting you increase your Challenge Energy even further. For now though, this is the only method of increasing your Challenge Energy.
