Zoë J. Osik is an Evergreen Staff Writer from the United States. She is a gamer, storyteller, and artist who combines her passions whenever possible. With several years of professional writing experience and a BA in Creative Writing, she knows how to tell a story. Her favorite niches with games include well-written RPGs and cozy games.
When she’s not writing, Zoë can be found curled up at her desk listening to ambient playlists while working on her novel. It’s a fantasy adventure, of course.

Journeying across the land as a lone wanderer in Where Winds Meet is difficult, but it doesn’t need to be for long. You can meet new friends on your adventures and invite them to join you, which benefits everyone. Getting started only takes a few moments, and you’ll be well on your way in no time.

We’ll help you learn everything you need to know about making friends, matchmaking, and working together to complete quests and objectives. Once you start playing in co-op, it’ll be hard to go back to solo mode for long sessions. Here’s how you can rope your friends into playing Where Winds Meet!

How Does Multiplayer Work In Where Winds Meet?

There are many ways to participate in multiplayer modes within Where Winds Meet. One of the easiest ways is to join the online map, although some quests and features are disabled this way. The next way to do it is to invite players to your world on the solo map, enabling you to play together in a traditional co-op experience.

Friends can be added via the social menu, whether you know their username or their user ID number. In the social menu, select the friend tab, then select the option to add a friend.

You can search here for people you know, or you can head into the multiplayer online map and start sending friend requests to people you meet.

How To Switch Between Solo And Multiplayer

At the top of your screen, you’ll see an icon that depicts either a lone warrior or a group. This is how you can switch between the solo and online maps. The solo map won’t have any other player characters in it unless you personally invite them, and the multiplayer online map is filled with wanderers and adventurers just like you!

Switching between the two is as simple as toggling on which one you want to be active in. However, doing so will teleport you to the nearest safe location you have unlocked on either map. Keep this in mind if you need to unlock any nearby boundary stones to be your fast travel point first!

Some features, like wild horses and specific quests, are unavailable in the online setting, but can be resumed solo or in co-op.

In the same menu where you would switch to the online map, you’ll want to access co-op through solo matchmaking. Here, you can create a room for up to five people, where you travel together as a team across the solo map.

As you progress with your co-op party, you’ll earn adventure slips that can be exchanged for new items in the shop.

If you form a team with other players, you can continue to explore in solo mode even if you’re in different co-op matches.

When other players get stuck on a boss or in a puzzle, they can reach out with an assistance signpost, which allows you to connect with them and complete objectives together.

Accepting to help doesn’t automatically match you, however, as you’ll need to wait for their approval before moving any further. Enter the matchmaking menu to pair up and tackle any obstacle that gets in your way!

Does Where Winds Meet Have Voice Chat?

Yes! You can use voice chat to talk with other players in the open, like when you’re visiting a guild base. Open the chat menu, then navigate to the Windtail Lounge. Here, you can open and join voice chat rooms so you can talk with other players.

You can back out of these menus at any time, and you can configure your microphone within the settings menu.

Here is how to get all Dragon Keys at various Where Winds Meet locations, and the locations of where to use them for hidden Weapon Martial Arts.
