Super Meat Boy is one of those games where dying is just a part of the game. You might be able to manage a world or two without dying, but death is sure to catch up with you as you progress and the difficulty spikes. No one has managed to complete the feat in the 15 years since the game’s launch, until shredberg came along.
After over 700 hours and 100,000 deaths in preparation, shredberg finally beat Super Meat Boy without even a single death (thanks, GamesRadar) They posted the final stats on Reddit and Twitter, showing 106 percent total progress with zero deaths. It’s a pretty big achievement, so much so that co-creator Edmund McMillen, who also created The Binding of Isaac, congratulated the player.
Super Meat Boy Has Been Beaten Without Any Deaths
Super Meat Boy is notoriously difficult, with each world having an achievement if you beat it without any deaths. However, perhaps even the devs thought that beating the entire game with zero deaths was impossible, as there are no achievements for doing so. But, I guess the co-creator of the game saying, “Congrats! You are awesome” is an achievement in itself.
The comments on the tweet just couldn’t believe that someone actually managed this feat. Even Team Meat congratulated shredberg on their accomplishment. Just in case you thought they were messing around like some of the other comments, they also uploaded the entire video on YouTube.
This is seriously one hell of an achievement for shredberg, especially considering fans have probably been trying to do the same for the past 15 years.
Back in July last year, an Xbox Games Showcase revealed that Super Meat Boy 3D would be launching sometime in early 2026. A demo of the game is currently available, but the reactions to it haven’t been very positive. Team Meat is yet to announce a final release date, but perhaps the devs may be thinking of reworking the final game a bit more.
