Clair Obscur And Dispatch May Be Huge, But Neither Is Steam’s Highest Rated Game Of 2025

2025 was a pretty great year for video games, with bangers coming out across the year to sink our teeth into. We got Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at the start of the year, while indie gems like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Dispatch took us nicely into the holiday season. They all picked up awards, one more than most to be fair, but when it comes to Steam’s leaderboards, there can be only one winner.

However, despite how much of an impact games like Clair Obscur and Dispatch had on the gaming landscape during 2025, neither of them managed to make it as Steam’s most highly-rated game of the year. It may have been named Steam’s Game of the Year, but neither did Hollow Knight: Silksong either. Take a look at the leaderboards, and you’ll see that one lucky little, early-access indie game that had its time in the spotlight way back in March.

Schedule 1 Has Beaten Clair Obscur As Steam s Highest Rated Game Of 2025

Yes, Clair Obscur may have dazzled with its incredible soundtrack and compelling story, but it’s Schedule 1 that has managed to come out on top as Steam’s most highly-rated game of 2025 (thanks GamesRadar). At the moment, it’s currently sitting on a score of 6.02, having accumulated a rating of 98 percent after 268,000 reviews, pipping games like Dispatch and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to first place.

In fact, those two games aren’t in second place either, with that position firmly belonging to Repo, one of only two 2025 games that appeared in Steam’s list of the most-played titles this year. It’s then Dispatch in third place, and then Clair Obscur just outside the medal positions in fourth, with Deltarune and Peak following closely behind.

Now, you may be wondering exactly where Hollow Knight: Silksong is on this list. It was Steam’s Game of the Year, so you’d assume it would be high up in the rankings. Unfortunately for all you skongers out there, Silksong isn’t even in the top ten. In fact, it almost didn’t make the top 20, as it’s sat all the way down in 19th position, below the likes of Supermarket Simulator, Wobbly Life, and the Steam release of Stellar Blade. Hey, it’s above Nubby’s Number Factory, so that’s a win, right?

In all seriousness, Silksong’s surprisingly low placement on this list is most likely due to a couple of factors, those being the rather atrocious Chinese translation, and its brutal difficulty, which was significantly worse when the game first launched. Those two alone will have tanked the game’s rating, especially when compared to other titles like Dispatch and Clair Obscur that haven’t really seen any controversy surrounding the games themselves.

Still, it’s pretty interesting to see two tiny Steam games, like Schedule 1 and Repo, beating such highly-rated heavy hitters such as Dispatch and Clair Obscur. At the very least, it’s refreshing to see any game winning something over Clair Obscur at the moment.
